Wireless
Networking: WAN, MAN, LAN, HAN, PAN
(1 Days)
PURPOSE
All market research suggest that
wireless has more potential than ever, however with voice usage close to
saturation in many countries, vendors are looking for new opportunities,
and data over wireless is seen as the next obvious market. After a brief
overview of where we are today, and how we got here, the focus of this
seminar will be to position the myriad of solutions, including SMS,
GPRS,EDGE, IMTS, 3G, Mobile IP, in the Metropolitan / Wide Area Network
(MAN/WAN), and wireless ethernet (IEEE 802.11a, b, e, g), High-rate
Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN) (IEEE 802.15.3), Universal Plug
and Play (UpnP), and Bluetooth in the LAN. All of these solutions offer
different challenges to the players that participate in the hardware and
software development of them. The coverage of each of these topics will
include, the protocols, the frequencies, signalling protocols,
interrelationship with each other, as well as to wireline solutions.
Another important aspect to be covered will be performance and security.
In some cases, the net throughput over wireless is less than 50% of the
raw bit rate. You will find out why at this seminar.
OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this seminar
delegates will be able to:
 |
Articulate the many applications
of wireless technology |
 |
Articulate the many frequencies
used by the many alternatives |
 |
Articulate they various radio
spectrum techniques, e.g. TDMA, CDMA, etc. |
 |
Articulate which markets have the
most promise and why |
 |
Articulate the many problems
supporting data over wireless, and some solutions |
TARGET AUDIENCE
Employees interested in an
introductory to intermediate overview of wireless. This intermediate
level seminar will be highly useful for employees entering into the
hardware or software products used in telecommunications services
business. The seminar is also of interest for software developers,
product managers and hardware and software engineers.
SEMINAR
LEADER
These
seminars have been developed by Gary Zielke, President and Richard
Parkinson, Vice President of Infotel Systems Corporation, a consulting
firm specializing in voice and data communications, systems design and
management, and will be presented by either of them.
