TRAFFCALC
TraffCalc
is a telephone traffic engineering calculator designed to assist network
designers and planners in determining traffic capacities, circuit
quantities and ACD staffing requirements. TraffCalc uses industry
standard traffic engineering models as well as discrete event simulation
to answer questions like:
- what is
the traffic carrying capacity of a given trunk group
- what
level of blocking will users experience if a given load is applied to a
group of telephone circuits
- how many
circuits are needed to carry a known amount of traffic at a target grade
of service
- what is
the optimum number of agents required to staff a call center
Screenshots showing examples of the various models are shown below.
The
traffic engineering blocking models have the following features:
- Four
standard traffic engineering models to choose from
- Calculation of three different unknowns i.e.
Blocking
Trunks
Capacity
Input and
results expressed in either Erlangs or CCS

The
queuing model uses the industry standard Erlang C formula to provide
staffing and service levels in a call center or ACD environment:

The detail
expansion provides a sensitivity analysis of number of agents to level
of service:

The ACD simulator uses discrete event simulation to show
real time activity in a call center:
