MPLS
- The New Strategy for the Network Backbone
(2 Days)
SEMINAR
DESCRIPTION
There seems to be little doubt that packet switching will be the switching
technology of choice for the multimedia networks of the future. Less
certain is which of the two leading contenders IP or ATM will dominate in
corporate and telephone operator backbones. Multi-Protocol Label Switching
(MPLS) is a technique which may very well decide which technology will
win the battle. Some see it as a means of implementing IP without ATM
while others see it as a way of integrating the two. Every major vendor
has jumped on this bandwagon and as usual the users have to decipher what it all
means. An understanding of the background of this issue is vital to avoid
the potential for costly future errors.
